Vehicle Diagnostic Tester, Connecting
Volkswagen offers various testers, for example:
- Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051
- Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051B
- Tester VAS 5051/11A
- Vehicle Diagnosis and Service System VAS 5052
- Diagnosis System VAS 5053
The operation of these testers is described in the respective operating instructions.
The following description is based on the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
Connecting
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051
- During a test drive you must always secure testing and measuring equipment on the back seat.
- Only the passenger may use the equipment during the road test.
-- Connect the diagnostic cable VAS 5051/1 -2- or VAS 5051/3 to the diagnostic connection.
-- Switch the tester on -arrow-.
The tester is ready for use when it is possible to select between the fields/buttons Guided Functions and Guided Fault Finding on the right side of the screen.
Depending on equipment and tester version, additional functions may be displayed, for example:
- Elsa Win
- Test Instruments
- OBD
The tester is now ready for operation.

-- Touch a field/button on the display to start the desired function.
