Removal And Installation: Transmission: Installing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following: 

-- Make sure the alignment sleeves are pressed into the engine flange.

Make sure the torque converter is installed correctly. It must be easy turn easily by hand and the entire circumference must be equally deep inside the transmission.

NOTE:

Carefully rotate the engine further.

Be careful of the engine >>when guiding the transmission onto the engine<<. Hold the starter ring gear steady from the outside with a screwdriver. When installing, studs are located in the bores of the drive plate.

The engine and the transmission must be mounted in the mount free of tension.

-- Make sure the bolts are in their old position when tightening the transmission mount to transmission mount bracket bolts. Tightening specification, refer to TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

-- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .

-- Check the transmission fluid level. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING AND FILLING .

-- Check the coolant level and fill if necessary. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING for BLV engines or DRAINING AND FILLING for CCTA engines .

-- Perform a basic setting. Connect the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051- and then select "perform basic setting" in Guided Functions  .



Install in reverse order of removal. However, important steps should be named here: 

-- Make sure the centering sleeves are seated correctly between the engine and transmission.

-- Position the transmission, possibly readjust the transmission mount.

-- Now, install a engine/transmission bolt.

-- Install all torque converter bolts and tighten them to specifications. Refer to TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

-- Tighten the transmission mount bracket -2- to transmission bolts to specifications. Refer to TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

-- Lift the engine/transmission, install the transmission mount to transmission mount bracket bolts -1- and tighten them to specifications. Refer to TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

-- Install the bevel box. Refer to BEVEL BOX .

-- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .

Do not grease cable.

-- Replace the seals on the transmission fluid lines.

-- Check the transmission fluid level. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING AND FILLING .

-- Check the coolant level and fill if necessary. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING for BLV engines or DRAINING AND FILLING for CCTA engines .

-- Press the perform basic setting  button on the vehicle diagnostic tester and perform a basic setting.

-- Press the →  button.

-- Press the →  button.
