MULTIFUNCTION Transmission Range Switch -F125-: Notes
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) -V.A.G 1331-
Removing
-- Move the selector lever into the "N" position.
With a 6 Cylinder Engine:
-- Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Removal and Installation .
-- Remove the coolant expansion tank. Refer to item 1 in COOLANT HOSE CONNECTION DIAGRAM for BLV engines or item 8 in COOLANT HOSE CONNECTION DIAGRAM for CCTA engines .
Continuation for all Vehicles:
-- Squeeze the selector lever cable locking mechanism -3- and pull the selector lever cable out of the bracket.
-- Remove the selector lever cable -1- from the selector shaft lever by hand.
-- Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
-- Disconnect the connector from the multifunction switch.
-- Remove the nut -1-.
-- Remove the spring washer -2- and the selector shaft lever -3- from the selector shaft -4-.
-- Bend back the tabs on the lock washer -2- using a screwdriver.
-- If the tabs on the lock washer break wile bending, the lock washer must be replaced.
-- Remove the nut -1-.
-- Remove the bolts -5-.
-- Remove the multifunction switch -4- and washers -2 and 3- from the selector shaft -6-.
