If a remote key fob will not program and the new/replacement remote does not program, check/compare the style and the VW emblem colors of the two remotes.
The new one piece remote (with the blue emblem) and the earlier/older two piece remote (with the black emblem) cannot be adapted together. Use the original remote to order the replacement part.
If the original part is not available then all early/older remotes must be replaced as well.
