ATF pump, disassembling and assembling
Removing seal for torque converter
- Remove circlip - arrow -.
NOTE:
- Attach screwdriver only at gasket but not at locking washer lying underneath.
- Pry off shaft seal using screwdriver - arrow -.
Installing gasket for torque converter
- Check locking washer lying underneath for damage.
- Drive in new shaft seal to stop using thrust piece 3455.
- Install circlip - arrow -.
Remove ATF pump from ATF supply housing.
- Remove bolts - arrows 1 -.
- Unscrew bolts - arrows 2 - approx. 5 rotations.
- Loosen ATF pump by lightly tapping on bolt heads - arrow - using a plastic hammer.
- Remove remaining 2 bolts.
- Remove intermediate plate - 5 - and positioning sleeve - 6 -.
- Remove ATF pump wheels - 3 - and - 4 - from ATF pump housing - 2 -.
1 - O-ring
Install ATF pump in ATF supply housing.
CAUTION:
Check individual components of ATF supply for wear and damage →
ATF pump .
- Replace O-ring - 1 - on ATF pump housing.
- Insert ATF pump wheels - 3 - and - 4 - into ATF pump housing - 2 -.
- Markings (points) on pump wheels point toward intermediate panel - 5 -.
- Place intermediate panel and insert positioning sleeve - 6 -.
Installed position of intermediate panel:
- The flat part of the intermediate plate must be aligned with flat part of ATF pump housing.
- Positioning sleeve engages in rectangular bore on intermediate panel.
- Insert ATF pump into ATF supply housing.
- Tighten bolts in stages - arrows 1 - and - arrows 2 - in diagonal sequence.
Tightening torque
- M5 bolts: 5 Nm
- M6 bolts: 10 Nm
Removing oil tube
- Remove bolts - arrows - and carefully pry ATF oil tube out of ATF pump using screwdriver.
Installing oil tube
- Gradually insert ATF oil tube with light and careful taps alternately in bores on ATF pump until stop, using drive-in tool T10274.
- Tighten angle bracket for ATF oil tube - arrows -.
- Tightening torque: 10 Nm.
