Engine control module, replacing

Work sequence

- Print out control module identification.

NOTE: Replace control module if the control module version displayed does not correspond to the vehicle. For latest part number for engine control module.

- Switch ignition off.
- Remove wiper arms and cowl panel:
- Release connector from control module and disconnect.







- Press control module to right and pull out.
- Install new control module and press to left.
- Connect and lock connectors.
- Code control module in "guided fault finding" and adapt to electrical immobilizer and to throttle valve control module, Adapting components and functions.

Vehicles with cruise control system (CCS)
- Check whether cruise control module is activated; activate if necessary, Adapting components and functions.

Vehicles with automatic transmission
- Learn kick down switch point, Adapting components.
- Adapt control module for automatic transmission, Adapting components.

Continued for all models
- Road test vehicle.

Observe applicable safety precautions during road test

During the road test the following conditions must be met:
- Coolant temperature must exceed 80 degrees C.
- When temperature is reached, the operating conditions, as follows, must be attained several times:
- Idling
- Part throttle
- Enrichment.
- Wide open throttle
- Overrun
- Read control module DTC memory again.
- Generate readiness code in "Guided fault finding", Adapting functions and components.
