Selector Mechanism, Removing And Installing: Installing

• Check protective sleeve for damage.
• Check that protective sleeve is correctly installed. Do not install protective sleeve twisted.
• Do not bend or kink selector lever cable.

The protective sleeve can only be replaced together with selector lever cable.

• Selector lever and selector shaft lever are in "P" position and front wheels are blocked.

• Guide selector cable - 3  - into mounting bracket and press onto selector lever - 2  -.
• Install new locking plate - 1  - for selector lever cable onto mounting bracket.

Installation position: 

The angled end of locking plate must face end of selector lever cable.

• Insert selector mechanism with selector lever cable completely into tunnel from below.

• Install bolts - arrows B  - hand tight.
• Tighten front securing nuts for selector mechanism (Qty. 2) to 25 Nm.
• Move selector lever from "P" to "2".

• Selector lever mechanism and selector lever cable must move freely. Replace selector lever cable, refer to Selector lever cable, removing and installing  or repair selector lever mechanism as necessary.

• Move selector lever to "P" position.

• Tighten nuts - arrows A  - to 10 Nm.
• Then tighten both bolts - arrows B  - to 25 Nm. When doing this, check position of seal.
• Push protective sleeve of selector lever cable into cover.
• Install front and middle heat shields for tunnel.
• Hook selector lever cable into retainer on front heat shield.
• Reassemble exhaust system. Refer to 26 - EXHAUST SYSTEM, EMISSION CONTROLS .

• Hook selector lever cable - 1  - into retainer - arrow  - on engine.

• Loosen bolt - 2  - on front ball socket - 1  - of selector lever cable.
• Place selector lever cable in transmission support bracket and push onto selector shaft lever - 4  - using pliers.
• Install new securing clip - 3  - to selector lever cable at transmission support bracket.

• Carefully position four corners - arrows  - of frame and engage.

• Join connector - 2  - for Shift Lock Solenoid N110.
• Insert retainer - 3  - for connector for Shift Lock Solenoid N110 in selector bracket.
• Connect connector - 1  - of printed circuit board.
• Hook locking cable on selector mechanism into locking lever. Refer to Locking cable, removing and installing  .

• Adjust locking cable. Refer to Locking cable, adjusting  .
• Check operation of ignition key removal lock. Refer to Ignition key withdrawal lock, checking operation  .
• Install center console. Refer to 68 - INTERIOR EQUIPMENT .
• Install selector lever handle.

• Connect Ground (GND) strap to battery.
• Adjust selector lever cable. Refer to Selector lever cable, checking and adjusting  .
• Check selector mechanism. Refer to Selector mechanism, checking  .
• Enter radio code. Refer to 91 RADIO, TELEPHONE, NAVIGATION, TRIP COMPUTER .
