SERVICE INFORMATION

1999> A4-platform Vehicles - Coolant Light Flashing

When verifying a "flashing coolant light when first started cold" concern, do not let the coolant warm up. Take a DVOM and back probe the signal wire. Set the meter to the A/C voltage scale and turn the key on. A reading above 0.5v will turn the light on. With the meter still connected, open the coolant reservoir and clean the level probes with a flat tip screwdriver or similar tool and watch for the voltage to drop.

NOTE: Some sensors are not accessible. So, if the readings are above 0.5 volts, the reservoir with sensor will need to be replaced.
