General notes on ignition system

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 13 other vehicles, including the 2005 Volkswagen Jetta, 2005 Volkswagen GTI, 2004 Volkswagen Jetta, 2004 Volkswagen GTI, and 2003 Volkswagen Jetta. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
  • Only the components which specifically relate to the ignition system are dealt with here. For the other components of the injection and ignition system, → Injection system, servicing  .
  • The engine control module is equipped with On Board Diagnostic (OBD).
  • Components marked with an asterisk (*) are checked via the On Board Diagnostic (OBD). → DTC memory (functions 02 and 05), checking and erasing  , checking DTC memory
  • For trouble-free operation of the electrical components a voltage of at least 11.5 V is necessary.
  • During some checks it is possible that the control module will recognize and store a code. Therefore after completing all checks and repairs the DTC memory must be checked and if necessary erased. → DTC memory (functions 02 and 05), checking and erasing  , checking DTC memory
