Function 07 - Coding Control Module

• All functions which could previously be performed with Scan Tool VAG1551 can also be performed with the Vehicle Diagnostic Testing and Information System VAS5051.
• ABS Warning Lamp -K47- and Brake System Warning Lamp -K118- flash when control module is coded with 00000. An entry is not set in the DTC memory.
• The control module ABS Control Module -J104- (w/EDL) must be recoded if the vehicle relevant coding is not displayed or the control module has been replaced.

The control module in the vehicle is coded. New control modules are not coded and must be coded after installation.

Coding is only possible after the dealership code has been entered into the Scan Tool VAG1551.

Test Sequence 

-- Determine engine code and type of ABS Control Module -J104- (w/EDL) installed in vehicle.

-- Connect Scan Tool VAG1551 and insert "Brake Electronics" address word 03 with ignition switched on VAG 1551, CONNECTING AND SELECTING FUNCTIONS .

Code Control Module  Enter code number XXXXX

-- Enter relevant code number for vehicle and press Q  button to confirm input → Scan Tool VAG1551 operating instructions.

The Scan Tool VAG1551 display will show the control module identification, e.g.:

1J0 907 379 D ABS 20 IE CAN 0001 ->  Coding 03504 WSC 00000
