Selector Mechanism, Removing And Installing: Removing
- First check whether a coded radio is installed. If so, obtain anti-theft code.
- Move selector lever to "P" position.
- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.
- Remove selector lever handle.
- Remove center console, refer to 68 - INTERIOR EQUIPMENT .
- Disconnect locking cable on selector mechanism from locking lever. Refer to Locking cable, removing and installing .
- Separate connector - 1 - of printed circuit board.
- Carefully pry retainer - 3 - for connector for selector lever lock solenoid - 2 - out of selector bracket using a screwdriver.
- Separate connector - 2 - for selector lever lock solenoid.
- Carefully pry up four corners of frame - arrows - and remove.
- Remove front securing nuts for selector mechanism (Qty. 2).
- Pull selector lever cable - 1 - upwards off selector shaft lever - 4 -.
- Remove securing clip - 3 - from support bracket.
- Unhook selector lever cable - 1 - from retainer - arrow - on engine.
- Raise vehicle.
- Remove bracket for catalytic converter from subframe and pull back; loosen double clamp. Refer to 26 - EXHAUST SYSTEM, EMISSION CONTROLS .
Do not remove catalytic converter but leave it lying on subframe.
- Unhook selector lever cable from retainer on front heat shield.
- Remove front heat shield for tunnel.
- Separate middle heat shield for tunnel and push back.
- First remove 4 nuts - arrows A -.
- Then remove 2 bolts - arrows B -.
- Carefully push cover with protective sleeve forward over selector lever cable. Do not damage protective sleeve in the process.
- Pry selector lever cable - 3 - off selector lever - 2 - using a screwdriver.
- Pull out securing plate - 1 - for selector lever cable on mounting bracket downwards.
- Carefully pull selector lever cable out of mounting bracket.
- Completely remove selector mechanism from tunnel.
