Checking Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Memory: Notes
- Connect scan tool. See Figure .
- Initiate On Board Diagnostic (OBD). See INITIATING ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Switch printer on via the "PRINT" button (indicator lamp in button lights up). Indicated on scan tool display:
- Rapid data transfer HELP
- Select function XX
- Press buttons "0" and "2" to select "Check DTC Memory," function 02. Indicated on scan tool display:
- Rapid data transfer Q
- 02 - Check DTC Memory
- Press "PRINT" button.
- Press "Q" button to confirm input. Indicated on scan tool display:
- X malfunctions recognized!
- Display indicates the number of stored malfunctions. The stored malfunctions are displayed and printed out in sequence. If a malfunction is recognized:
- Repair malfunction
- Erase DTC memory (function 05)
- Check DTC memory (function 02) again
- Repair the malfunction using the print-out and the DTC table. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION
under DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC).NOTE: The function "Read measuring value block" and the display group overview will be helpful for repairing DTC malfunction(s). See READ MEASURING VALUE BLOCK . The measuring value block is divided into 3 display group numbers.
- If "No DTC recognized!" is displayed, the program will return to "Select function" screen after the forward (right) arrow button is pressed. Indicated on scan tool display:
- Rapid data transfer HELP
- Select function XX
- End Output. See END OUTPUT under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Switch off ignition and disconnect diagnostic connector.
