Possible Cause
DTC 17978 -"Engine control module disabled" in memory.
NOTE:
This DTC indicates that the Immobilizer control module has not unlocked the ECM!
- Erase DTC. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) MEMORY, ERASING (FUNCTION 05) .
- End Output. See END OUTPUT (FUNCTION 06) .
- Select address word "25 - Immobilizer".
- Check DTC memory and correct malfunctions according to DTC table. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) MEMORY, CHECKING (FUNCTION 02) .
- After malfunction repairs and adaptation of components are completed, always check and erase the DTC memory of the ECM.
- DTC 17978 "Engine control module disabled" is not in memory. This indicates there is no malfunction in the electronic immobilizer!
