Possible Cause

DTC 17978 -"Engine control module disabled" in memory.

NOTE: This DTC indicates that the Immobilizer control module has not unlocked the ECM!
  1. Erase DTC. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) MEMORY, ERASING (FUNCTION 05)  .
  2. End Output. See END OUTPUT (FUNCTION 06)  .
  3. Select address word "25 - Immobilizer".
  4. Check DTC memory and correct malfunctions according to DTC table. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) MEMORY, CHECKING (FUNCTION 02)  .
  5. After malfunction repairs and adaptation of components are completed, always check and erase the DTC memory of the ECM.
  6. DTC 17978 "Engine control module disabled" is not in memory. This indicates there is no malfunction in the electronic immobilizer!
