CRUISE CONTROL, CHECKING AND CODING AT PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION (PDI)
Model(s): Volkswagen, All Models With 1.8L Turbo & Cruise Control

CONDITION
Cruise Control is found to be inoperative during the Pre-delivery inspection.
SERVICE
During the PDI (see Maintenance service Circular VMS-00-03 for complete PDI instructions), ensure that the cruise control is operational (activated).
To check if cruise control is activated:
Connect the VAS 5051 Diagnostic tool.
Switch Ignition ON.
From VAS 5051 Start-up screen, select Vehicle self diagnosis.
Select vehicle system "01 -Engine electronics". See Fig 1 .
Check for the letter "G" (arrow, Fig. Fig 2 ) after the engine description.
If letter "G" is visible:
Continue with diagnosis and repair fault.
If letter "G" is NOT visible at (arrow, Fig 3 ) after engine description. First deactivate then reactivate cruise control using the following procedure:
Select diagnosis function "11-Login procedure".
Input Login number "16167" on keypad and press "Q" (to deactivate cruise control). See Fig 4 .
Screen shows Login procedure successfully completed (arrow, Fig 5 ).
Select the back arrow on navigation bar.
Input Login number "11463" on keypad and press Q (to activate cruise). See Fig 6 .
Screen shows Login procedure successfully completed (arrow, Fig 5 ).
Select the back arrow on navigation bar.
Select the back arrow on navigation bar again.
Select vehicle system "01 - Engine electronics again. See Fig 1 .
- The letter "G" (arrow) should now appear after engine description. See Fig 2 .
Select "02 - Interrogate fault memory" and clear any faults.
Select the back arrow on navigation bar.
Select "06 - End output".
Select "Go to" on navigation bar, then select "Exit".
Switch ignition OFF.
Remove VAS 5051 Diagnostic tool.
Road test vehicle and check that cruise control is functional.
