Selectable Functions Using Address Word 01: "Engine Electronics"

Use the following table to determine which prerequisites are required to select the desired Functions:

(1) Only perform with ignition switched ON if engine will not start.

NOTE:

Individual measurement values can be displayed in mode 1 but this method is not recommended for VW workshops because expanded data is available using address word 01, function 04 or function 08.

Mode 2 shows the operating conditions under which a malfunction was detected.

DTC memory is checked via mode 3 and is erased via mode 4.

Use mode 6 to check measured values of components and systems which are not continually being monitored.

Use mode 7 to display malfunctions that have been recognized once by on board diagnostic but did not switch ON the malfunction indicator lamp -K83-. Malfunctions may not necessarily be present, correspondingly no malfunctions will be revealed via mode 3. However, if malfunctions stored via mode 7 repeat, they will be displayed via mode 3 and erased via mode 7.
