2000 New Beetle and Golf and Jetta - DTC 17978, Control Module Locked
DTC 17978 Control Module Locked, occurs in the engine ECM if the ECM is replaced in an immobilizer-equipped vehicle and the new ECM is not matched to the immobilizer. Instructions on how to match the ECM to the immobilizer can be found in Technical Bulletin GROUP 01 NO. 99-11 .
