Diesel Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) Engine Control Module (ECM) -J248-, replacing: Removing

• Print out Engine Control Module (ECM) -J248- identification and previous ECM code as follows:
• Connect Scan Tool (ST) V.A.G 1551/1552. See VAG 1551 SCAN TOOL, CONNECTING .
• Press -0- and -1- buttons to select Address word 01: "Engine Control Module (ECM)".
• Switch ignition on.

Scan Tool (ST) V.A.G 1551 display will show Engine Control Module (ECM) identification, e.g.:

• Print out Engine Control Module (ECM) -J248- identification by pressing Scan Tool (ST) print button.
• Press --> button.
• Press buttons -0- and -6- for the function "End output" and confirm entry with the -Q- button.
• Switch off ignition.
• Remove wiper arms and cowl panel:

• Remove connector from Engine Control Module (ECM) -J248-.
• Press securing tab -arrow- to left and pull Engine Control Module (ECM) -J248- out.
