Securing Engine On Assembly Stand

Secure engine to holding fixture VW 313 of assembly stand using holding fixture VW 540 when performing repair work.

Procedure 

-- Move engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A on a workbench.

-- Lower the engine/transmission assembly so that transmission makes contact.

-- Remove connecting bolts for engine/transmission.

-- Press transmission off from engine.

-- Attach the engine sling 2024 A as follows and lift engine from engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A using the workshop crane.

Belt pulley side: 2. Hole of rail in position 1

Transmission side: 4. Hole of rail in position 8

WARNING:

Use securing pins at hooks and pins.

NOTE:

The peg positions on the carrying strap marked with 1 to 4 face the belt pulley.

The bores in the hole rail are counted from the hook.

-- Secure the engine with the engine/transmission holder VW 540 and supplementary set VW 540/1B to holding fixture VW 313.

NOTE:

Loosen the coolant line on the flywheel side.
