Road test
- Brake pedal and parking brake: Check idle travel and operation.
- Idle travel of brake pedal: max. 1/3 of pedal travel
- Idle travel of parking brake lever: 2 notches.
- Gearshift: Check operation.
- Check operation of steering.
- Check steering play with vehicle weight on the wheels by turning steering wheel back and forward (wheels in straight ahead position).
- Steering play: zero play (engine running if vehicle fitted with power steering).
- Check kickdown operation. Depress accelerator pedal fully beyond the pressure point.
Depending on vehicle speed and engine speed, upshift is either retarded or the transmission shifts down into the next lower gear.
- Check operation of air conditioner: Cold or warm air must flow out of the vents.
