DTC 00312/1422: Catalyst Temp. Sensor No. 2, Open/Short Circuit To Ground

  1. Press keys "0" and "6" on scan tool to select function 06 END DATA TRANSFER. Confirm by pressing "Q" key. Turn ignition off. Disconnect catalyst temperature sensor connector. See Figure . Connect ohmmeter between temperature sensor terminals No. 3 and 4. At 77°F (25°C), resistance should be about 212-228 ohms. If resistance is to specification, go to next step. If resistance is not to specification, replace catalyst temperature sensors No. 1 and 2.
  2. Connect Adapter (VAG 1598/18) to ECM connector. Check resistance between adapter terminal No. 56 and catalyst temperature sensor connector terminal No. 3, then between adapter terminal No. 33 and catalyst temperature sensor connector terminal No. 4. Continuity should be present. If resistance is not to specification, check wiring for short circuit. If resistance is to specification, replace DFI ECM.
