DTC P0116/16500: ECT Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
NOTE:
DTC is set when Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor is out of range or performance is poor.
- Ensure ignition is off. Allow engine to cool to at least 86°F (30°C). Disconnect ECT sensor connector. Connect ohmmeter to ECT sensor terminals. Run engine at idle.
- While engine is running, sensor resistance should decline slowly without interruption to about 275-375 ohms. If sensor resistance stops moving before operating temperature has been reached, or if a resistance of at least 400 ohms is not reached, replace ECT sensor.
