Fuel System: Turbocharger: Installation

  1. Install blue wastegate hose on turbo and secure with a clamp. Grease mounting bolts -2- threads and head contacting surfaces with high temperature (2000° F) anti-seize compound. See Figure .
  2. Install turbocharger on exhaust manifold and tighten mounting bolts -2- finger-tight. Install mounting nut -1- and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 N.m). See Figure .
  3. Tighten mounting bolts -2- to 26 ft. lbs. (35 N.m). Install turbocharger/cylinder head support and tighten to 18 ft. lbs (25 Nm).
  4. Install oil return pipe with NEW seal and tighten to 22 ft. lbs. (30 N.m). Install front exhaust pipe with NEW gasket onto flange and tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 N.m).
  5. Fill the turbocharger with engine oil via the oil supply connection. Install oil supply line and tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 N.m). Tighten oil supply line support to 89 INCH lbs. (10 N.m).
  6. Install red hose for Wastegate Bypass Regulator valve -N75- on turbocharger and secure with clamp (or banjo bolt with NEW seal) and tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (15 N.m).
  7. Insert "O" ring onto intake pipe, then install the pipe on the turbocharger and tighten to 89 INCH lbs. (10 N.m). Install pressure line. After installing the turbo, idle the engine for approximately one minute. Do not rev the engine up at first! (to ensure that the turbocharger is properly lubricated).
