Idle Speed & Mixture

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Volkswagen Passat. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Idle speed is controlled by Throttle Valve Control Module (TVCM). TVCM is not adjustable. If vehicle exhibits idle speed problems, check for vacuum leaks. If no vacuum leaks are present, check fuel pressure, dashpot adjustment and ERG valve (if equipped). See IDLE CONTROL in appropriate BASIC TESTING article. Also, perform testing under any idle speed or TVCM related DTCs in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTIC article.
