Work sequence
- Connect VAG1551 or VAG1552 scan tool.
- Switch ignition on.
- - Press buttons -0- and -1- to select the "Engine Electronics" address word 01.

- Press buttons -0- and -7- to select "Code Control Module" function 07.
- Press -Q- button to confirm input.
Indicated on display
- Enter appropriate code number for vehicle, and press -Q- button to confirm input.CONTROL MODULE CODING (VEHICLE CODE NUMBER)
Coding For vehicles with: 00001 Automatic transmission 00002 Manual transmission
Indicated on display (Diesel DFI ECM identification)
NOTE:
Make sure that the code number displayed corresponds to the code number that has been entered.
- Switch ignition off, then back on again.
New coding must be indicated on display
NOTE:
- To activate the coding, switch the ignition off, then back on.
- If, after entering a valid code number, the ignition is not switched off and on, "ECM incorrectly coded" will be stored in DTC memory and cannot be erased.
- Press ==> button.
Indicated on display
- Press buttons -0- and -6- to select "End Output" function 06.
- Press -Q- button to confirm input.
NOTE:
The coding entered and indicated on the display will not be used by the Diesel DFI ECM until the ignition has been switched off once.
NOTE:
Incorrect coding leads to:
- Engine running malfunctions
- Increased fuel consumption
- Malfunctions are stored in DTC memory that did not actually occur
- Reduced transmission life
