Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments

Special Tools, Testers And Auxiliary Items
- VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool with VAG 1551/3 adaptor cable
- Box wrench e.g. Hazel 4561





Adjusting:
- Connect VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool
- Switch ON ignition
- Press 0 and 1 buttons to select address word 01 "engine electronics"
Display will appear as shown:

- Press 0 and 8 buttons in select function 08 "Read measuring value block"
- Press 0 button to enter input
Display will appear as shown:

Input display group number XX

- Press 0 and 2 buttons to select display group 02
- Press Q button to enter input
Display will appear as shown:

Read measuring value block 2 ->
0 rpm 0.0% 0 1 0 18.4°C

- Check Throttle Position in display zone 2 (accelerator pedal must not be depressed)
+ Specification: 0.0%
- Fully (slowly) depress accelerator pedal while observing display zone 2
Display will appear as shown:

Read measuring value block 2 ->
0 rpm 100% 0 1 0 18.4°C

+ Throttle Position value must increase continuously and then display 100% just before the Wide Open Throttle stop
- If necessary, adjust Throttle Position as follows





- Turn adjustment screw -7- until Closed Throttle Position display shows 0.0%
- Depress accelerator pedal to point just before Wide Open Throttle position
+ display must show 100%.
- Erase DTC memory
- Recreate readiness code
