Using Scan Tool For ABS Bleeding Sequence

If a model equipped with ABS runs out of brake fluid in either side of reservoir, it will be necessary to use VAG 1551 scan tool or equivalent to bleed hydraulic unit and brakes.

  1. Connect VAG 1551 scan tool or equivalent to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under a small cover on center of dash.
  2. On scan tool press "0" and "3" to select address word BRAKE ELECTRONICS. Press "Q" button to confirm input. Press "0" and "4" to select diagnostic function 04 - BASIC SETTING. Press "Q" button to confirm input.
  3. The hydraulic pump is activated using display group 002. See Fig 1 . Bleed the hydraulic system. See BLEEDING WITH POWER BLEEDER  or BLEEDING WITHOUT POWER BLEEDER  .
