Condition

Inoperative Engine Control Modules (ECM) due to improper battery charging or starting procedures.

Service

- Always follow battery charging procedures as outlined in the applicable Repair Manual for the respective model.

To avoid damage to the ECM, the following additional precautions must also be taken:

^ Ignition must be switched off.

^ Do not start engine while charging battery.

^ Do not use battery chargers or boosters that exceed 16 volts.

^ Do not disconnect ECM with the ignition switched on.

^ Ensure that ECM connectors are secure.

CAUTION
Follow the above instructions to avoid damage to the ECM.
