Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor:

- With the ignition "OFF", remove the harness connector from the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor.
- With a suitable volt/ohm meter, measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 3 of the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (terminals 1 & 3 correspond with BLUE wire and BROWN/YELLOW wire).

^ Refer to the temperature sensor graph for the correct measurement.

- If the correct measurement IS NOT obtained, replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor.

NOTE: Because of its adaptive capability, the Motronic control unit MUST be returned to its basic settings IF:

- The Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor has been disconnected while the engine is running.
- Any of these components have been replaced:

^ Motronic control unit
^ Mass Air Flow Sensor
^ Throttle Position Sensor
^ Throttle body

- Refer to: Return Motronic ECM to Basic Settings
