Fox 1.8L Digifant II (Federal)
- Disconnect wiring harness from Hall Effect control unit. Connect LED tester to wiring harness terminals No. 2 and 6. See Fig 1
. Crank engine and observe LED tester. If LED tester does not flicker, replace distributor.
- If LED tester flickers, check Hall Effect control unit as follows. Ensure ignition coil is okay. Connect Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) between terminals No. 2 and 4. See Fig 1
.
- Turn ignition on. DVOM should indicate battery voltage. Turn ignition off. Check continuity of wiring harness between coil terminal No. 1 and Hall Effect control unit wiring harness terminal No. 1. If continuity does not exist, repair wiring harness.
- If continuity is okay, reconnect Hall Effect control unit. Connect DVOM between ignition coil terminals. Turn ignition on. DVOM must indicate a minimum of 2 volts for 1-2 seconds, then drop to zero volts. If voltage is not as specified, replace Hall Effect control unit.
