Cabriolet 1.8L Digifant II (Federal)

  1. Ensure engine oil temperature is at least 176°F (80°C). Ensure idle and full throttle switches are correctly adjusted. See IDLE & FULL THROTTLE SWITCH ADJUSTMENTS in ADJUSTMENTS article.
  2. Start engine and allow it to idle. Operate full throttle switch by hand, then accelerate engine by hand turning throttle until 2000 RPM is reached. Engine speed must fluctuate (idle speed hunts).
  3. If deceleration function does not activate (speed does not fluctuate), disconnect Blue Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. Connect test leads between ECT sensor wiring harness terminals. If engine surges, replace ECT sensor.
  4. If engine does not surge, check ECT and idle/full throttle switch wiring harness for an open circuit. For more information, see the appropriate PIN VOLTAGE CHARTS article in this section. If wiring harnesses are okay, replace ECM.
