Exhaust Gas Recirculation: Service and Repair

Volkswagen has no recommended interval for emission control device servicing, the following should be performed during the course of regular maintenance services.

1. verify correct operation of EGR system.
2. Check vacuum hoses for wear or loose connections.
3. Verify EGR valve moves freely when vacuum is applied.
4. Check for carbon build up in valve and passage.
