Standard Column

STEERING LOCK HOUSING, REMOVING/INSTALLING





Removing
- remove steering wheel (4)




- remove switch securing screws (5) (arrows)
- disconnect switch connectors
- remove turn signal (6) and windshield wiper/washer switch (7) from steering column
- remove washer, spring and support ring from steering column
- remove mounting bolt (13) and remove steering lock housing (14)

Installing




- Slide steering lock housing onto steering column and install mounting bolt
- install support ring, spring and washer onto steering column
- using special tool VW 420 (1), drive support ring, spring and washer onto steering column until fully seated

NOTE: If the steering column shaft recedes into steering column tube, thread nut onto shaft and pull shaft out.
