Entering Self-Diagnostics: Notes
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Volkswagen Passat and 1994 Volkswagen Corrado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
While limited diagnostic information is available, vehicle manufacturer does not support diagnostic information using aftermarket scan tools. To properly diagnose vehicle, it is recommended to use VAS 5051 scan tool and VAG 1598/31 test box.
NOTE:
If VAG SELF-DIAGNOSIS or VAG ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC message does not appear on scan tester, check DLC terminals for battery voltage and ground. Upper terminal should have battery voltage, while bottom terminals serve as ground.
