Electronic Control Unit (Ecu)
NOTE:
For ease of understanding, components will be grouped into 2 categories. The first category, INPUT DEVICES, are components which control or produce voltage signals that are monitored by the ECU. The second category, OUTPUT DEVICES, are components that are controlled by the ECU (this is usually accomplished by the ECU grounding individual circuits).
The electronic control unit may be located in cargo area floor behind rear seat or in equipment box in cargo area. These units cannot be repaired. The control unit limits maximum engine speed to about 5500-5800 RPM. The control unit receives information from the following:
- Air quantity from airflow meter.
- Air temperature from temperature sensor.
- Engine speed from hall sender.
- Exhaust oxygen content from O2 sensor.
- Position of throttle valve from switch for full throttle enrichment. The control unit uses this information to determine amount of fuel to be injected. See Fig 1 .
