Passat GLX

NOTE: Passat used a distributor type ignition system in vehicles with a production date of 1/93 or before. Engine code may be PG or AAA. Ignition coil specifications are not available from manufacturer.
  1. Connect multimeter between terminals No. 1 and 15 of ignition coil. See Fig 1 .

    CAUTION: DO NOT handle or cause the test connections to become disconnected during the following step.
  3. Turn ignition switch on. Voltage reading should be 2 volts minimum and then drop to zero volts after one to 2 seconds.
  4. Turn ignition switch to start position. LED tester must flicker while cranking. If not as specified, replace ignition coil.
