- If fuel cut-off solenoid fails in open position, engine will not shut off with key. If solenoid fails in closed position, engine will not start due to lack of fuel. Before replacing fuel cut-off solenoid, remove it from injection pump and clean it. See Fig 1 .
- When solenoid and plunger are clean, plunger must be checked for free movement in solenoid. Install solenoid in pump with new seal. Test for proper solenoid operation by connecting battery voltage. Good solenoid will click when 12 volts are applied or removed.
- Manual fuel cut-off has been added to injection pump on models with automatic transmissions. If engine continues to run after key is turned off, move lever away from drive sprocket. See Fig 2 .
