Injection Pump Timing

  1. Remove plug from injection pump head. Install Adapter (2066) and Dial Gauge (US 1026) to a depth of 0-.118" (0-3 mm). Preload gauge to about .097" (2.5 mm).
  2. Turn engine slowly counterclockwise until gauge needle stops moving. Zero gauge. Turn engine clockwise until TDC mark on flywheel is aligned with boss on bellhousing.
  3. If adjustment is necessary, slighty loosen bolts on pump mounting plate. Turn pump to get correct dial gauge reading. Tighten bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (24 N.m). Recheck injection timing.
  4. When installing plug, replace seal and tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (15 N.m). If leakage occurs, plug can be retightened to 18 ft. lbs. (24 N.m).
