Engine Compression

  1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Oil temperature must be a minimum of 86°F (30°C). Remove wire from fuel shut-off solenoid (on injection pump) and insulate wire. Remove injection pipe, injectors, and heat shields.
  2. Install Adapter (VW 1323/2 A) in place of injectors. Insert old heat shield between adapter and cylinder head. Attach Compression Tester (VW 1323) to adapter. Crank engine and read compression. Install new injector heat shields when installing injectors.
