Injection Pump Timing
NOTE:
Before adjusting injection timing, push in cold start device completely.
- Remove plug from injection pump cover. Install adapter (2066) and dial gauge (US 1026) to 0-.118 in. (0-3 mm) in place of plug. Preload gauge to about .097 in. (2.5 mm).
- Turn engine slowly counterclockwise until gauge needle stops moving. Zero gauge. Turn engine clockwise until TDC mark on flywheel is aligned with boss on bell housing.
- If adjustment is necessary, slighty loosen bolts on pump mounting plate. Turn pump to get correct dial gauge reading. Tighten bolts. Recheck injection timing.
- When reinstalling plug, torque to 10-14 ft. lbs. (14-20 N.m) with copper seal (Reddish/Brown in color) or 14-18 ft. lbs. (20-24 N.m) with bronze seal (Yellow/Brown in color).
CAUTION:
To avoid fuel leaks, always replace plug seal.
