Idle Switch - All Other Models

To check and adjust idle switch, loosen upper left bolt on throttle valve housing. Attach Protractor Pointer (3084) under bolt. Attach Protractor (3084) on primary throttle valve shaft, removing shaft nut if necessary. See Fig 1 .

Disconnect wiring to switch. Connect ohmmeter between terminals of switch. Set protractor so pointer is on 0°. Open throttle to 20° and close it slowly. Reading must be 0 ohms (continuity) from 1° to 2.5° positions.
If reading is not correct, remove throttle valve housing. Loosen idle switch mounting screws and adjust switch position. See Fig 2 . Ohmmeter must show 0 ohms (continuity) before throttle reaches idle stop position.
