Differential Pressure Regulator

Differential pressure regulator is bolted onto side of fuel distributor. Plate valve position in relation to inlet of pressure regulator can be varied electrically. Plate position, combined with fixed outlet orifice, governs pressure in lower chamber. See Fig 1 .

Actuating signal comes from ECU and can range from -60 mA to 120 mA, depending upon engine operating conditions. With engine running, constant system pressure of 75-82 psi (5.3-5.8 kg/cm2 ) is applied at fuel inlet. Plate valve position is governed by current intensity. Corresponding pressure change in lower chamber causes movement of diaphragm and influences fuel volume flowing to injectors.
