Valve Guide Servicing: Notes

Inspection

1) Clean valve guides. Attach dial indicator and Adapter (VW 387) to mounting surface of cylinder head. Insert new valve into valve guide. End of valve stem must be flush with end of valve guide.

2) Rock valve head back and forth against tip of dial indicator to measure clearance between stem and guide. If reading exceeds .039" (1.0 mm) for intake valves, or .051" (1.3 mm) for exhaust valves, replace guides.
