Metering Rod

  1. Ensure accelerator pump stroke is adjusted correctly, and remove air horn from carburetor. Remove metering rod plug, and position a dial indicator with indicator pin resting on metering rod adjusting screw.
  2. Ensure throttle is fully closed. Preload and zero dial indicator. Using a paper clip, push metering rod adjusting screw downward until metering rod bottoms.
  3. Metering rod travel should measure .051" (1.3 mm). Using a No. 9 Torx head, turn adjusting screw clockwise to decrease, counterclockwise to increase metering rod travel.
