Component Disassembly & Reassembly: MAINSHAFT: Disassembly

NOTE: For Disassembly and Reassembly Procedure refer to Illustration. See Fig 1 .

1. Remove mainshaft bearing with puller on 5-speed (use a press and plate for 4-speed). On all transaxles, remove 4th gear, 4th gear needle bearing and 4th gear synchro ring.
2. Remove 3rd-4th synchro assembly snap ring and simultaneously press 3rd gear and 3rd-4th synchro assembly off shaft. Remove 3rd gear needle bearing. Place reference marks on synchro hub and sleeve for reassembly reference, then push hub, shifting keys and spring out of sleeve.
