Valve Body Assembly: Reassembly

NOTE: For Valve Body Spring Identification Charts, See Fig 1 and Fig 2 .
  1. Lubricate all parts with transmission fluid. Install valve trains into proper valve body bores in reverse order of removal. Make sure all parts slide freely in bores.
  2. Ensure check balls are installed in proper body passages. See Figure . Install transfer plate-to-main body screws and tighten from center outward. DO NOT  over tighten.
  3. Install valve body onto transmission case so that manual valve and kickdown valve are correctly engaged with their operating levers. Tight valve body mount bolts to 35 INCH lbs. (4 N.m), in a diagonal pattern.
  4. Install NEW oil strainer assembly. Install oil pan, with NEW gasket, and tighten mount bolts no more than 14 ft. lbs. (19 N.m). Install final drive housing if removed. Refill transmission with ATF, install transaxle assembly and road test vehicle for proper operation.
