ISSUE & TIP
When replacing the release bearing on a Volkswagen Rabbit, Golf, or Jetta transmission, it is not necessary to remove the green cap. To replace the bearing:
- Remove the six 8 mm bolts holding the housing that the green cap is pressed into.
- Remove the housing. In most cases the housing gasket can be reused.
- Coat the gasket with Hylomar.
- Change the release bearing and reassemble.
