Carburetor - Carter-Weber Single Bbl: Description
TYF carburetor is a single barrel downdraft type, consisting of 5 systems which enable it to provide correct fuel/air ratio under various operating conditions and loads. The 5 systems are:
- Float Circuit System
- Low-Speed System
- High-Speed System
- Accelerating Pump System
- Choke System
TYF also incorporates a pulsing air control solenoid, providing electronic feedback fuel control. This provides a narrower air/fuel ratio band, permitting maximum efficiency from the catalytic converter.
The TYF also utilizes an idle control solenoid, which prevents engine "dieseling". When ignition is turned off, solenoid de-energizes, retracts and closes the throttle valve.
The TYF's Solvac is a 2-stage solenoid used on A/C-equipped models. The electrical stage is an idle solenoid to prevent engine "dieseling". The vacuum stage is a diaphragm, activated by vacuum from a solenoid, which is energized when A/C is on and clutch is engaged. It increases idle speed to compensate for added engine load.
