Bushing Replacement

  1. Check bushing for wear using an inside micrometer. Wear limit of bushing is 1.348" (34.25 mm), and maximum allowable out-of-round is .001" (.03 mm).
  2. To replace bushing, use bushing pullers and adapter to withdraw bushing from converter hub. See Fig 1 . Press NEW bushing into place using bushing drivers and support.

  3. Check converter hub for scoring from oil seal. If seal seat on hub is rough, worn or pitted, replace converter. Ensure chamfer for oil seal is rounded at the front. Remove sharp edges and burrs with fine emery cloth. DO NOT  damage surface where oil seal makes contact.
  4. If necessary, note installed position, remove oil seal and clean seal seat. Dip NEW oil seal in ATF and drive into position using seal installer. DO NOT  allow gas or solvent to contact silicone type seal.
