When removing/installing engine, tool 3147 and support bar 10-222A will be used instead of support tool VW 785/1b on all longitudinal mounted engines..
Note
VW 785/1b will continue to be used on all Vanagon and Type 2 vehicles.
Work sequence
- remove left upper engine/transmission bolt
- insert tool 3147 into empty hole
- position support bar 10-222A on inner fender mounting area
- attach draw hook as shown
- raise/lower transmission with wing nut to desired height
Note
Unclip distributor cap, laying it to one side when placing tool 3147 into position. Take care not to damage ignition wiring.
