Crankcase Ventilation Systems - VOLKSWAGEN: Operation

Vapors produced in the crankcase are vented through the oil breather (separator) and connecting hose into the carburetor air cleaner. They are drawn through the carburetor where they enter combustion chambers and are burned. The oil breather (separator) is designed to prevent liquid (condensate) from passing through into the ventilation system.
